Passengers stranded as Air India cancels flights

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Once again, Air India is in the news for the wrong reasons. The national carrier’s lack of efficiency left around 300 passengers stranded at the Thiruvananthapuram Airport following the cancellation of two flights on Monday.

Flights IX 539 Thiruvananthapuram-Dubai and IX 537 Thiruvananthapuram-Abu Dhabi were those cancelled. The reason Air India authorities cited for the cancellation of flights was that one pilot each on both the flights were inexperienced to fly the aircraft during monsoon. Two pilots, a commander and a co-pilot are needed for an aircraft to be flown. But the shortage of crew to substitute the inexperienced pilots forced the airline to cancel the flights.
